Seminar
/ Workshop
The
Law Commission held a three-day workshop entitled "Investigation
and Trial of Criminal Offences: In Quest of Capacity Enhancement",
from 17-19 November 1998. The workshop was intended to
obtain views and consultations from persons having expertise
on the subject by reason of service or professional attachment.
A total of 30 participants attended the workshop. They
were Judges of Sessions Courts, Metropolitan Magistrates,
Magistrates, Police Officials, Public Prosecutors and
Defense Lawyers. The workshop was arranged with a view
to identify the problems, shortcomings and deficiencies
in the existing systems of investigation, trial (including
appeal) of criminal offences.
International Seminar:
A day
long international seminar was jointly organized by the
Law Commission, Bangladesh and the Canadian International
Development Agency(CIDA) on June, 2002 at the Hotel Sonargaon.
The theme of the Conference was, "The Law Reforms
Agencies in the 21 st Centuries: Looking for a Balance
between Tradition and Innovation.” Distinguished
Persons, Senior Lawyers of the Supreme Court, District
and Sessions Judges, Superintendents of Police, Presidents
of District Bar Associations were attended the Conference.
The delegations from India, Pakistan, New Zealand and
Canada also attended in the Conference.
